NG2 (7.1) Antibodies

Human melanoma-associated chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan (MCSP), known as the homolog rat NG2 antigen, is a 250 kDa glycoprotein that is though to play important roles in angiogenesis-dependent processes like wound healing and tumor growth. The core protein contains an open frame of 2,322 amino acids encompassing a large extracellular domain, a hydrophobic transmembrane region and a relatively short cytoplasmic tail. This antigen is not expressed on normal hematopoietic cells but can be expressed on myeloid and lymphoid cell subsets with chromosomal modifications. It is also expressed on human glial cells. This antigen regulates signaling events that are important for both cell proliferation and cell migration through at least two distinct mechanisms: the focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and the extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK) 1/2.
